Responsible for soliciting scholarly papers from New York State SRNAs and selecting the winners of the Kathleen O'Donnell Excellence in Leadership and the Goldie Brangman Awards. BYLAWS COMMITTEEAccepts proposed amendment changes to NYSANA Bylaws, Standing Rules, and Administrative Manual. Chairperson: Jennifer Carroll DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION (SPECIAL COMMITTEE)Works across NYSANA to ensure consideration of DEI in all aspects of its activities. Activities include social media, programs, CRNA admissions and recruiting, middle school, high school and undergrad information sessions and RRNA/CRNA mentorship. Chairperson: Carolina Meza Saenz EDUCATIONAL DISTRICTS Chairperson: Matt DiCicco GOVERNMENT RELATIONS COMMITTEEMonitors legislative and government policy in all matters affecting healthcare, and follows legislative activity in New York State relevant to the practice of nurse anesthesia. Chairperson: Sean McGarry FINANCE COMMITTEEResponsible for investigating expenses (past, present, and future) and determining the basic yearly budget requirements. NOMINATING COMMITTEEResponsible for preparing ballots for the membership comprised of eligible individuals who, by capability and intent, are qualified to serve NYSANA. PEER ASSISTANCE & WELLNESS COMMITTEEAssists CRNAs in safeguarding the quality of patient care; serves as a resource to NYSANA members by providing names of treatment centers or programs. POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEEThe Political Action Committee helps build strong working relationships with elected officials, increases our level of political involvement, and helps ensure we are heard at crucial moments in debates impacting our industry. Chairperson: Stephanie Grolemund PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE COMMITTEEMonitors current CRNA practice through the development and implementation of a survey at least once every five years. Monitors and communicates national CRNA practice issues to the Board and membership. Chairperson: Cheryl Spulecki PROGRAMS COMMITTEEResponsible for organizing and overseeing two State Educational Meetings a year. This includes recruiting speakers and sponsors for each meeting in addition to selecting meeting places and organizing special events. PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEEWorks with contracted public relations company in media relations, marketing, advertising, communications, social media, and event management. Encourages participation at career days, state fairs, etc. to educate the public about nurse anesthesia, and coordinates with AANA Public Relations and staff. Chair: Michael Thamsen STUDENT LIAISON COMMITTEEPromotes awareness of NYSANA to SRNA's currently enrolled in a New York State Nurse Anesthesia Program. Encourages involvement and participation with NYSANA by attending meetings and serving on committees. Identifies student reps from each program, encourages student CRNA Week projects, poster presentations, and Goldie Brangman Award submissions Committee Chair: Stephen Quiery AANA PROGRAMSState Reimbursement Specialist (SRS) Program Chairperson: Eric Conklin Federal Political Director (FPD) Program The designated state contact for federal political issues. Serves as a liaison between CRNAs in the state and the AANA Federal Government Affairs Division. Meets with congressional and senatorial candidates to brief them on AANA issues.
